Heather and Bryan, you might remember them from their amazing engagement shoot that was featured on my facebook page, were married at a private residence in Harpswell. The day was overcast and then sunny and then a little rain and then some more sun before finally settling later in the evening on clouds, but rain or shine it didn't matter the day was perfect!
We started the day with a first look... guys I LOVE it when my couples do a first look. Selfishly I love being the person who gets to photograph that emotion, the nervousness, the anticipation, the final sigh of "we are doing this and it's exactly right!", I LOVE it!
After the first look we spent a delightful 2 hours touring the island and all of Bryan's childhood haunts for their portraits. It was such a beautiful way to begin their amazing day.
Of course just as the ceremony was about to start it started to rain(it's good luck!) but not to be deterred Heather grabbed a nearby umbrella and went on with the day. :)
The reception happened just across the road at the community clubhouse, which couldn't be anymore coastal Maine if it tried, rustic and charming, exactly what you think of when you think of a Maine vacation space from the 1920's.
I loved the subtle nautical theme that ran throughout the decor, not too much but enough to give a nod to the place and the history of Bryan's summers spent there.
Dinner was a traditional Maine lobster bake, with corn and steamers and of course lobster cooked over seaweed. SO good! A lobster bake is such a fun and delicious dinner option for a Maine wedding.
The reception started off with some lovely toasts, which went right into the cake cutting and then the first dance. The flow of the evening was lovely, not too slow but not rushed at all, the music keeping people on the dance floor thanks to Bryan's brother who also happens to be an amazing DJ!
Then it was dancing the night away!
I love these photos of Bryan dancing with his Mum, so sweet!
Thank you so much to Bryan and Heather for a fabulous day, for showing us the love you have for your tiny corner of Maine and for trusting us with your wedding photography, as always we are so honored to have been there for you on your big day.
